Annie and I cooked our Southern breakfast-for-dinner tonight. It was great. I made pluckin' bread from scratch (I'd forgotten how much fun kneading is, I need to do that more often). I also cooked country ham, and made red eye gravy, which was a first for me, as a vegetarian. I'm not opposed to others eating meat, I just don't want it. As long as it comes in a package with cooking directions and I don't have to take out organs, I can cook it. I just want to be sure I'm not gonna give someone food poisoning because I did it wrong. Annie contributed homemade biscuits and peach cobbler, and made grits (some with, some without cheese). Megan and Annie collaborated on country potatoes (diced, with onions), and scrambled eggs. Emma brought a yummy fruit salad, and Megan brought some great iced tea (vanilla caramel) that she served with Bailey's. Yum. Even though Chuck bailed, Joey guilted Mike and Jeska into coming even though they weren't going to, and we had a full house: Annie, Megan, Emma, Nathan, Scott, Joey, Chris, Mike, Jeska, Jonathan, Andrea, and me. Sukenya (I'm really not sure how to spell her name) was going to come, but she didn't...I'm not quite sure why not.
Last night was quite a busy dance night. We had several special guests in town. Sue Mi was back visiting, as was Amy N., and Peter Vawter completely shocked me when he walked in. His cousin Mary lives here, and he was in town for a wedding (from Japan). Add to that the fact that EVEN JOEY went to Preservation Pub, and it was a banner night for KSDA.
